This LEGO Goldorak work by qargo boldly revisits the legendary robot, opting for a modern, stylized interpretation. Rather than limiting himself to a classic representation, the artist has chosen to hijack the character, highlighting his iconic elements: his majestic golden wings and imposing face. Far from diminishing Goldorak’s strength, this artistic choice accentuates his dynamism and lends the work a visual tension, as if the robot were ready to take flight at any moment.

The QR code, integrated into the back of the work, acts as a gateway to the timeless world of Goldorak. This code is not simply a technical addition: it symbolizes the fusion of tradition and modernity, reminding us that even icons of the past can be reinvented in a contemporary context while retaining their symbolic power. The work is signed by Masahiro Hara, the inventor of the QR code, reinforcing its technological and historical dimensions.

By fragmenting Goldorak in this way, the artist offers a new perspective on this hero: a pared-down, contemporary approach that magnifies the very essence of the character, namely the struggle for justice and the protection of the oppressed. This seemingly minimalist, cropped format enriches the visual narrative and creates a dynamic structure that seems almost to be in motion, reinforcing the idea that Goldorak is not just a frozen symbol, but an active force for good.

This work fully embodies the power of imagination and the importance of fighting for a better world, eternal values that Goldorak represents across generations.

EASTER EGG

Key : episode

Secret: Episode 22 of the 74-part series is distinguished by its emotional depth, which makes it particularly memorable. 22 is also the number of the piece in the qargo collection. The Easter Egg was hidden under the 22nd Lego of the Goldorak name under the QR code.

“It’s not the number of battles you win that defines you, but the courage with which you fight them.”

Goldorak(UFOロボ グレンダイザー, Yūfō Robo Gurendaizā?literally “Grendizer, the UFO robot”) is a Japanese series in 74 24-minute episodes, conceived, directed and produced by Toei Animation in 1975.

Goldorak, the legendary robot from outer space, is a huge source of inspiration for the artist. His unshakeable courage, exemplary loyalty and commitment to protecting the Earth have taught him the importance of fighting for what he believes in. He never backs down in the face of adversity, and protects the most vulnerable. His lasting impact on popular culture has shown him how a story can transcend generations.

To underline the significant influence of Goldorak in his life, the artist decided to createa “detoured” version that offers a modern, stylized approach, fragmenting Goldorak into key elements – the majestic wings, the iconic face, and the qargo logo. This aesthetic choice in no way reduces the symbolic power of the character; on the contrary, it enriches his representation with a dynamic structure that seems almost to be in motion.
This work embodies the power of imagination and the importance of fighting for a better world.
